Wildlife Secrets Revealed With Advanced Tracking Devices

Technology advances in the past few years have allowed scientists to make more developed tracking devices to see what animals are doing. These devices are revealing new things about animals that are hard to study. Locaters attached to humpback whales have shown that these marine animals are making 1,000 foot dives underwater during migration. Tracking devices on grizzly bears in Yellowstone National Park have tracked how the bears are finding food. California Condors soar high above the land, then come down to feed on dead animals, but these birds climb three miles above the earth. Condors use air currents to fly high instead of flapping their wings. Tracking the birds now suggest the where the flying conditions are best, is where the Condors live. Now, these new findings have lead scientist to question them. For example, why are humpback whales making 1,000 foot dives underwater? Scientists think they might be looking for food or they are socializing. I think these findings will be helpful to everyone who wants to know more about animals. The new tracking devices will lead to new discoveries about interesting animals. Also, I think it is facinating that scientist can develop new technology to solve their questions.
