Second Sight

Many people have eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, which is being blind. For a while there has been no cure for blindness. This has all changed after second sight was invented. This is how it works, a surgeon attaches an electrode array to the eye that receives signals from a pair of glasses worn by the blind person that have with a video camera. The camera captures video and submits the pictures as series of electrical pulses to the eye that the brain then takes as visual images. Second sight does not get rid of the damage, however it helps people see shapes and see the difference between light and dark. Second sight is helping people see again.
