Solar Power at Temple!

This was a very interesting story about how Temple University installed solar powered charging stations at a number of outdoor locations on their campus. The charging stations are cost efficient and a great opportunity for students who always need to charge their devices. These charging stations are built into picnic tables on campus, with the solar panel installed in the umbrellas at the tables. The charging stations costs about $10,000. The tables are cost effective and they help educate students about the importance of going green.

My son attended Temple University and says these stations were very popular. I think it is a very forward-thinking and "green" solution to a problem of energy conservation. Everyone has devices to charge with them everyday and these charging stations will be very convenient for students to use as well.

New Emojis for our phones

There are tons of emojis on our phones and computers but are tired of putting the same emojis at the end of every text or e-mail? Well problem solved. Unicode Consortium is getting a set of 72+ emojis approved.

Some of the new emojis include dancing man, sneezing, bacon, shopping cart, and fist bump. Not only are the emojis brand new, they look sort of 3D as opposed to the normal 2D. It will be a while before they are released though but I’m sure text lovers will endure the long wait. Emojipedia, a website dedicated to all things emoji, published mockup images of what it thinks the new ones will look like in the "Apple-style."  Practically anyone can submit a proposal for new emoji but getting the approval is the hard part. Google has asked Unicode to accept 13 additional emojis of women in a range of jobs so emojis are no longer sexist. I am positive text lovers will love these new emojis but remember be patient.

Wireless Electric Car Charging

This video was about how electric car’s energy not lasting long enough. Edward van Boheemen has created a wireless charging system to fix that problem. The charging system consists of a charging panel on the bottom of the electric car and one on the ground. You just drive over the pad that’s on the ground and it automatically starts charging. There is also an app that shows you if your car is aligned with the charging pad while you park. The charging pads take different amounts of time. It be a slower overnight charge of 3.6 kilowatts. Or it can be full in less than an hour with a 20 kilowatt charge. I find this article very interesting because it could solve the problem of wasting gasoline. Gasoline is a fossil fuel so we only have a limited amount. Using gasoline also hurts the environment and ozone layer. I think that having wireless charging stations is a novel idea. Read more about wireless electric cars at http://www.cnn.com/videos/sports/2016/05/27/spc-supercharged-wireless-charging.cnn.

Why You Should Not Be Frightened About The “Cell Phones Cause Cancer” Study

I liked this article because it gives many reasons why we should not worry about the “cell phones cause cancer” study. It has clear and straightforward headings for the reader to easily understand the information including quotes and citations for extra addition. It tells about how the study was conducted on lab rats and people are definitely not rats, so therefore it is not accurate. With quotations from professors at Open University, you can tell there is not enough information and evidence for this study to be correct. To read more about this article visit:

Dog Protects Girl From Peanuts

The daughter of Sherry and Brett Mers, Riley, has a peanut allergy so strong, once she almost had to have a skin graft! Even if she lightly touches a peanut shell, her skin will burn, and she will have a horrible threatening reaction! Once her amazing dog came along, she did not have to worry. A portuguese water dog had saved her life of fear and worry.

When peanut protein gets into her bloodstream, she has terrible anaphylactic shock. Her dog, Rock’O, can sense peanut protein. When someone walks by, he can protect Riley by his sense of smell. He can smell peanuts, and knows immediately if the person had eaten peanuts or peanut butter.

Rock’O is so good, he could sense peanut M&Ms and quickly got Riley away. Riley was extremely happy that she could go outside, into the world, without having to fear.

Dogs are Learning How to Communicate Easier

People are making dogs have a voice. They are doing this because they need to tell someone immediately if someone is hurt or needs help. They are also doing this because it makes searches quicker and more efficient and it warns people about how to handle the bomb. Melody Jackson has made this work by putting her two favorite things together dogs and computer science. The dog has a high tech vest that has sensors built in to tell what the dog is doing. The vest has a GPS in it so when the dog sends an alert the people know where to go. Also the dog can stay with injured person and help them, instead of leaving to go to find help. In the vest there is a tab the dog can pull to call 911 in case something happens to the owner.  The dog can also help their owner if they have a handicap. They can do this by alerting other people to help the person. These dogs can help save lives. Those were some ways the dog vest is helping people.

New Changes On Twitter

About a couple of weeks ago twitter made new changes and surprisingly people are not complaining about it. Twitter's new update has been pretty successful. The update includes not counting names, hashtags, or URLs as part of the 140 characters limit. You can also now retweet tweets from yourself if you think a tweet went unnoticed. It’s also, been nearly a year since Jack Dorsey came back to lead Twitter, and ever since he came back the changes he has made the people don't think they're that bad. But, there is just one problem think twitter is changing things so they don’t have to deal with online harassment. I personally chose this blog to read because, I’m a Twitter fan and this blog helped me learn more about this situation.

The Robot "Mother"

This robot is named mother for good reason. It helps it owner with just about anything, from watching kids, to helping out with grandma. “Mother”,can monitor your sleep, make sure your kids are brushing their teeth and even tell if you’ve taken your pills. She can be a door alarm and, just about everything else, just like a real mother.

“Mother” was basically built to help monitor everything. I think it is pretty resourceful and is needed by most families to help out around the house. In the future I think she could be the next baby sitter, or even house cleaner.

Apple's Magic Band

If you’ve ever been to Disneyland, you might know about the Magic Band. It gets you into rides, places, serves your favorite food, brings you and your luggage straight to the hotel-it’s got it all, even though it just looks like a regular wristband. But what if the Apple Watch was just like it?

Many people say they don’t want the Apple Watch because they just don’t see the point. However, what would you think if I told you that the current Apple Watch is in fact not the design Steve Jobs imagined at all? That in fact, his design was incredibly similar? Steve was planning the ultimate seller-a wristband that allowed you to wave your hand to open your car door, give access to your house, set a room to your favorite temperature, and so many more personal preferences. And yet, all in a wristband! Going outside? You don’t need to take anything! The Apple Watch could do everything for you. Pay for your groceries, get you into your workplace, login to your computer-the possibilities for what Apple could allow their new device to help with are endless.

But then again, why is this so important? If you waited long enough, you’d get everything the new Apple Watch could give you when it came out, right? WRONG. You can, unbelievably, get even more from this amazing new product. How, you ask? Well, my pupil, you take stocks. Doesn’t that sound so simple, though? Just taking a stock in Apple, which everyone could think of? Well, there’s more to it. Apple isn’t the company you want stocks in. You want stocks in the companies that sell the things Apple, and every company that makes things like apple, needs. You see, to make these new prototypes, or any technology device you can wear, companies need their products to have NFC, or touchless near field communication. So, you’d make even more money by taking stocks in the companies that sell the materials for that, since no only Apple, but countless other companies are producing wearable technology devices. What companies do this? Well, keep reading to find out.

One of the stocks should be Salesforce.com. It is predicted to go up by 1,111%. This is probably the best to bet your money on. Trying to catch up in the race below Salesforce, Monster Beverage will be racking it up by 809%. Last but not least, Under Armour seems to be going up by 605%. Keep in mind that these predictions are not guaranteed.

The story this was based on was very interesting because of it's extremely specific predictions. It was named Forget The iPhone 7. Next Apple Sensation Revealed by Rex Moore. If you want to learn more, then visit this website.

Self driving uber cars

They are testing a self driving car in Pittsburg. The car was a hybrid ford fusion it was train to drive on its own. By having radiators, laser scanners, hi-res cameras. The car knows lots of routes it can go in to get all over the place. It just opened up after 15 months of work. I chose this because i think it's cool how new technology be used to get you places. I found it really interesting because Pittsburgh is right by Pennsylvania.

Facebook Plans to Make It Impossible For Police to Read Your Messages

Facebook is reportedly encoding your messages so they are only able to be read by the receiver and the sender. This new “update” will be able to be used in a couple of months. Not even Facebook itself can’t read your messages. Apple’s iMessages and WhatsApp owned by Facebook, both have encoded messages where Apple and the owners of Facebook can’t see your messages. Facebook is not only doing this to protect your privacy, but to keep up with competitors. I liked this article because first of all, police are very nosy! Second of all, It is keeping your privacy safe.

Bus that could fix China’s traffic problem

This article focused around this electric  bus that will solve pollution problems and the huge traffic jams they have there. These people think that if someone creates a bus that fits over highways and other major roads in China will solve the traffic jams. This bus will be able to fit about 1200 people in The Transit Elevated bus or they call it TEB. The TEB will have stations that let people get off at different routes.

I think that this bus would be a good idea but cause many accidents or major problems like fall off its tracks. Also, this bus will cost a lot of money and will hard to build the bus and the tracks it will run on. This is a good idea but, I think it will be in the distant future.

Futuristic Model

I liked this article because NASA did an experiment about the life in the future. Rick Guidance and Don Davis was told by NASA to illustrate potential  space colonies. The illustrations focused on three concepts: Bernal Sphere, Toroidal Colony, and Cylindrical Colony. They each used centrifugal force to create artificial gravity, which was reflected in the circular designs to power their rotation. Inside were landscapes with comfortable, modern homes. It was supposed to hold 1 million people at a time. It was like earth except it turned inside out. I like books about the future and sci-fi books so this article was very interesting. To NASA, it was just an experiment, but many people think this might be the world to come. To read more, click on the link below.

Bionic Skin can Change the Future

A student at the University of Tokyo named Takao Someya has made bionic skin that can feel tumors. It can also do many other things such as, It can communicate with your skin and the inside of the body. It could also tell surgeons when people are about to be sick merely by touching them. The bionic skin is also known as E-skin is light as a feather but almost indestructible. He hopes that eventually robots will be able to shake someone's hand and figure out there emotion. This story was very interesting because of how much this can change how doctors do work and how it will be able to save many lives.

The drone will have a 27 minute battery time and a range of 1.86 miles it also has a 1,500mAh battery. But there are no plans to sell it in the U.S.. There design is inspired by the Dragonfly. Apple speaker with built in camera

Apple made a new speaker device with a built in camera. The camera can see who you are and hear what you are saying. There are good and bad things about the camera in the speaker. The good things are that you can tell it to bring up things like music, lighting and sources. The bad things about it is that it could see exactly who you are and hear your private conversations, you wouldn’t have much privacy in your home. Google is still unsure about the product because of people's privacy.

I chose this story because I wanted to read why there would be a built in camera in a speaker. Also because I wanted to read the good and bad things about a camera in a speaker.  I thought it was interesting because the speaker could see you and you wouldn't really have any privacy in your home and that Apple is unsure if they really want to release the product.

Tesla creates a self-driving car!

Tesla has created an sleek, electric car that is able to drive itself. This amazing vehicle is able to drive along a highway, change lanes, and remind you that you still need to pay attention to the road. However, this car is not able to tell when the light is red, therefore you have to break at lights. This car is the first step to self-driving cars being available to the masses. This innovative piece of technology is amazing, and could vastly change the world of driving (or not driving) forever.

I have always loved cars and I always thought self driving cars were amazing. So, when I saw this story on CNN, I wanted to learn more about tesla’s self driving car and what it can -or can’t- do.

This Is Your Brain up in Space

My article is called this is your brain up there. It is by Amanda Barnett and Rachel Crane. It was made May 26, 2016. It is about training astronauts who have to live in a tiny bubble home on a place on earth that looks like mars. One of the astronauts said there isn't very good privacy. The rooms are very small and have to eat concentrated foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The entertainment is just board games and movies but at dinner is where the entertainment is at. The astronauts have been living in the bubble home for eight months but on this August they will return. I thought this article was really cool and i hope you did to.

Driverless Ubers

This story was very interesting. In Pittsburgh, Uber is testing out their driverless cars. Uber is partnered with Carnegie Mellon University to make the new car. If you’re in Pittsburgh be sure to check for drivers in the driver’s seats of ubers. Most car accidents are caused by human errors not machines, so Uber is trying to find a way to make driving as safe as possible. Ubers are way less expensive than owning a car so why not build one that is up all hours of the night, safe, and the new technology. Uber hopes that the driverless cars will help the streets become safer. Last year, 33,000 people died in the U.S. in car accidents and 4.4 million were injured. If you ever visit Pittsburgh, be sure to watch out for no drivers.

If Uber can save lives, anything they do is good. It might freak people out at first, but hopefully it helps stop accidents on the street. I really hope this helps people everywhere and not just in Pittsburgh. Saving lives and preventing injuries is so important.

In the article it shows that there are many companies that like this game as it is, and they wrote a  summary of the game. I feel this game would be an amazing game because before there was a really good story and I feel that when I saw these companies having a description about the story of the game I felt that is was a really good/ Amazing discovery. A Guide to Future Living by NASA

A Guide to Future Living by NASA

Some of us may be living in space in the future. The NASA Ames Research team, led by Gerard O’ Neill, a Princeton professor, are doing a research experiment of life in space. After some researching with lots of other experts, he came up with three ideas: the Bernal Sphere, the Toroidal Colony, and the Cylindrical Colony. They all had circular designs, using centrifugal force to create artificial gravity. O’ Neill thought that they would be able to begin construction by 1990, but the technological equipment was not advanced enough. The largest design, the Cylindrical Colony, has the ability to hold up to 1 million people, with the most modern home designs that are out. O’ Neill died in 1992, but people may get to live in one of his designs in the future.

“Car-Eater Could Stop Traffic Jams”

A giant bus that appears to eat cars is helping in China with traffic jams. It is a giant bus with four stories, called the Transit Elevated Bus (TEB). As many as 1,400 passengers can ride on the upper levels while the bottom is essentially a tunnel that cars will be able to pass under. The passengers then use an elevator to get down when it is their stop. The bus can carry a lot more passengers than most and is able to pass cars. This means that there will be less cars on the road and they won’t have to be stuck behind the TEB. TEB can also help the environment, because it is powered by electricity. There are plans to test out the bus in August and hopes that it will go well.

I found this article very interesting and the idea incredible. We all hate being stuck in a traffic jam and this could be a cool new way to end this problem, while still being environmentally friendly. I don’t think I’m the only one who wants TEB to be a success.

Our brains in space
Right now NASA is working on a huge project to get people to Mars. Before we can send anyone out to deep space we need to see if the mind can handle it. To find out NASA sent 6 people (3 men and 3 women) to a dome for 8 months. The dome is just like how it would be on mars and there isn’t very much space there is only 1,462 square feet of living space in the whole dome. They are doing this experiment on top of a volcano in Hawaii, it is supposed to the most martian like environment we have on earth. This experiment can provide a lot of data to researchers who are trying to get these 6 people to mars. Some of the information they can get is how much they interact with other people, what they like to eat, how loud they talk to other people and much more.

I thought that this article was very interesting because I think the experiment they are doing is very cool. I also think it would be awesome if we ever did get anyone on Mars.

A group of scientists, to help the efforts to colonize Mars, built a habitat on a volcanic island in Hawaii. They stayed there for eight months to see how humans interact when together for long periods of time. A Mars mission would take about 4 years, so people have to like each other to be apart of the mission. Every day the scientists go out on “Mars” and do what real astronauts would do. They are required to wear space suits to simulate being on Mars. They will soon go on another mission for a whole year this time.

What NASA needed to find out if The Brain could handle deep deep space. The size of this dome was 36 feet in diameter from the outside. There is different parts of the dome too, there are their bedrooms, the kitchen etc. and the reason of this mission is to see how these 6 people would interact with each other and write down and interpret how much water and food they eat and use for this space mission. Harnessing spider powers to heal human bodies

A Oxford University professor, Professor Fritz Vollrath is harnessing spider’s powers to heal bodies. After working with spiders for 40 years, Vollrath has learned to appreciate spider powers. Spiders create webs by spinning liquid protein into silk that is pound-for-pound stronger than steel. One type of silk that spiders use is dragline silk, which is what they hang from, it’s proven the toughest. They have used spider silk to heal animal’s wounds, the silk covers the wound, and seamlessly dissolves over the wound. Research teams are finding different ways to spin the spider silk, such as using spider DNA in goats and using yeast to spin the silk. After years of research, zoologists say they’ve only scratched the surface of the new healing technology.

If Dogs Could Talk

Melody Jackson, of the Georgia Institute of Technology, has developed a way for dogs to talk. The dogs have vests with sensors that can talk or send notifications to a smartphone. The vests are part of a project called FIDO, or Facilitating Interactions for Dogs with Occupations. The vest has sensors that are triggered by a bite or a nudge with their nose. The dogs could now easily find bombs, missing people, and even help the hearing impaired. Jackson is also working on a vest with a dog tracker, and if the dog finds something it sends an alert, and the owner can come find where the dog is. Jackson says the dogs can learn how to use the vests in a matter of seconds.
I think the vests are brilliant. It sounds like any dog, in a matter of seconds, could become a life saver. Using things dogs already know how to do, the vests can make the dogs talk. I chose this story because I love dogs, and I wanted to see what they were doing to the dogs. The story is interesting because there is now an easy way for dogs to save multiple lives. With 5g, Verizon could be anyone's crazy-fast Broadband Provider

This was a very interesting article about how Verizon was creating a insanely fast network speed. They are trying to do this because Verizon is really only in the northeast, but are trying to become nationwide. This probably won’t be released until 2020 because it will have to a lot smaller than the size of a massive van. This could help many people who live in rural areas with not high-speed internet.

I chose this article because it interests me because when i’m on my phone, you sometimes go into dead zones and then it just doesn’t work that well. So this article could solve that problem of dead zones. Many people would be very thankful for this idea when it comes out in 2020.

Tim Cook Believes he saw an iPhone in a 350 Year Old Painting

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple believes that the “letter” in the painting “Man Handing a Letter to a Women in the Entrance Hall of a House” is an Apple iPhone.  This painting by Pieter de Hooch was painted in 1670 while the first iPhone was released in 2007.  So, how is this possible?  Many believe that time travelers exist and this may be just one example of this.  While this could be a pliable answer, even the name says it is a letter.  This doesn’t look like a letter to me.  It’s incredible what people are saying about this and what their opinions are.  Maybe it’s just an advertising stunt, or maybe it truly is a time traveler.  We know one thing for sure, Tim Cook is convinced that it is a real iPhone.

Can we live in outer space?

Biglow motels are taking living space to the next level! We are testing and already building Houses for outer space! The Biglow owner, Robert Bigelow said this could be ready in 2018! The biggest house is capable of holding 6 people! He says his interest in space started when is grandparents supposedly had a alien encounter. The only places where these prototype houses have been launched is NASA’s space station and China’s space station. It currently cost 25 million to stay there for 8 months. That seem like a lot but it's nowhere near the cost of an actual space launch. I think this could revolutionize living space! That is all I have to say.

Toshiba recalls laptop-melting batteries

Toshiba recently recalled some faulty laptop batteries made by Panasonic. The batteries have a chance of overheating, thus posing a fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Earlier, Toshiba had received four reports of the batteries overheating and melting, but no injuries were reported. The recall started in January, and Toshiba said they were recalling notebook batteries sold since June 2011. The Japanese manufacturer said they would replace them for free.

"Burning" batteries are not unusual. In 2006, Dell and Apple recalled batteries made by Sony, because they had concerns that they could overheat or explode. A few days before the recall, an Apple iPhone reportedly exploded on a flight to Hawaii.

Teaching dogs to talk is easier than you think.

If dogs could talk, what would we want them to say? Well, we can finally do this because we now have the technology because of Melody Jackson. Melody Jackson has developed technology that is giving dogs a voice, an ability she says is crucial for search and rescue, bomb detection and therapy dogs. This works by dogs wear these special  vests equipped with sensors. These sensors can send either audible cues or text notifications to a smartphone. This program is called FIDO, which stands for "Facilitating Interactions for Dogs with Occupations. The program works by teaching the dogs that the vest have side sensors that the dogs trigger with a bite or a nudge of their nose. They're trained with toys, identifying between a Frisbee or a ball, and telling their handler which is which. Jackson explains this is an example of a "discrimination task" that can be translated to more important tasks, such as bomb detection, where the dog would tell his handler what explosive he or she has scented.
I think this is interesting because we have the technology to do things like this. Imagine what the future will be like. We might be able to talk to every animal. I also find it cool that people spend their lives working on projects like these. Finally, I love dogs and wanted to see what people were doing with them.

U.S. Families Struggling With Teens's Media Addiction

U.S. children between ages 8 and 12 report spending nearly six hours a day using media, while those ages 13 to 18 spend almost nine hours per day.  59 percent of those with children between ages 12 and 18 saying their kids cannot give up their phones on a poll of 1,240.  It is also causing tension with it disrupting driving, homework and other “human” time together.
All over the country families are struggling with their teens addictions to phones.  I for one don't have a phone and won't till this summer.  Also i have to pay for at least half of the phone bill.  But most teen’s parents pay for their kids phones and buy them 100-900 dollar phones.  Some schools are allowing kids to have their phones during class.  Which is crazy because you're at school for one reason, to learn.  And that alone is a huge role in teens addiction to media.  I know that because when i get home i stay on my laptop for 2 hours then i go outside and then i go back on my laptop.  I almost never do my homework because that and i almost failed 3 classes in 3rd marking period.  Media is making humans stupid.  For instance we just “google” everything instead of thinking about.  I've noticed that my brother says to my parents i have to do homework on my computer so that's why i need it.  But “for some reason” he never has homework.  He spends 98% of his free time on media which is literally insane.  From 3:45-10:20 he is in his room on media.  I go to sleep at 9:00 so sometimes i can hear his videos.  That causes my to have tension with the family cause i will get up and yell “shut up” and my mom will come and say “be quiet” then my dad will get up and take my brothers electronics away and my brother will cry and be angry at me and the family.  But all I want is quiet cause i get up at 6:00. So media is destroying human interaction and “normality” of a human.

Bendable Smartphone

There is a bendable smartphone/watch that are made in China. You also can stretch it flat like any other smartphone. They used graphene, the thinnest material in the world that is strong. The company, Moxi Group, plans to put 100,000 on sale to China by the end of the year. But today, the phone is only in black and white but by 2018, they plan to make a color version. Many companies are trying to make this “Flexible Watch”, and many people are drawing them out and ways how the watch could be wrapped.

I found this story interesting because, many people are trying to make this watch and it seems something cool that I would like. Also, I chose this story because, I think that this is a smart idea and regular smartphones can fall out of your pocket. But this watch is strong and it is thin, flexible, will not fall out of your pocket if you go on a roller coaster, etc.

I found this story here: http://money.cnn.com/2016/05/25/technology/bendable-smartphones-china/index.html

Teaching Dogs to Talk is Easier than You Think

If you own a dog, you probably have at least once wondered what it would be like if your pet talked. Now, that reality is a lot closer than you think. Melody Jackson, an associate professor at Georgia Institute of Technology has developed a vest that allows dogs to voice their ideas. The vest is equipped with special sensors that respond to a dog’s nudge with their nose or a bite. These sensors then send either a text message to a smartphone or spoken cues. These vests have been tested on various dogs and so far had no mishaps. Melody Jackson hopes that these vests can later be used with bomb detection dogs and rescue dogs. The vest is currently being tested by a team of service dogs in California.

When I was a child, I wanted to have a dog. I begged my parents many times, but it seemed impossible after a while. Although I am not allowed to own a dog yet, I still am very enthusiastic about anything related to, or includes dogs. I believe that the research and effort put into this project is important and well deserved. After all, dogs play an important part in many people’s lives. Some are pets, others are service dogs, and some are even war dogs. All in all, dogs are a man’s best friend.

The Bendy Phone

According to CNN Money, the small Chinese Moxi Group created a phone that can be bent and twisted. This interesting story explains that the smartphones are made of graphene, which is an incredibly thin material considering how strong it is. Graphene is used to make the technology inside of the phone, because the screens that can bend are already invented.

100,000 of these phones will be for sale in China by 2017, costing only 5,000 yuan (760 US dollars), which is a lot less than the cheapest Apple Iphone there. The only downside to these smartphones is that they can only be released in black and white. The producers are inventing the technology to make a full color one, but this will be released by 2018.

I chose this story because I did not know that a bendable phone was possible, and i might want one in the future. But until I can get it, I can only hope for a bendy phone.

For more information go to CNN Money.

The bendy phone

This story is very interesting about the how the smartphone company making a phone that can bend. In china they are making the phone sell around 5,000 yuan. The company is trying to work on the flexibility on the phone. Samsung has been working on the flexibility for a while and it is no where close to the flexibility of the smartphones flexibility. The smartphone can loop around your wrist and it will still work. The bendy screen is made of grapheme the thinnest material in the world that is also strong, light, transparent and flexible.

I think the phone is very cool and it is so amazing how they could make a smartphone so bendy. The bad thing is though is when they release it it will only have black and white displays the company says they will release the full colored ones which will be more of a  challenge 2018.

There could be two new Xbox's heading to stores soon.

The Xbox from Microsoft has been a world leader in gaming software. But with the release of the Xbox One and PS4 consoles, Microsoft has lagged behind. According to leaked information on the Kotaku gaming website, this could be set to change. It has been said by anonymous sources that two new Xbox Ones are set to be released. One is described as a smaller more slim version with less cost. While the second console code named “Scorpio”, set to release in 2017, could possibly be the long anticipated joining of the Oculus Rift VR headset and Xbox One console. This console is thought to be trying to combat Sony’s own VR headset and system. To run this the console will require about 2TB(terabytes) of storage, four times the current amount! Also it will need a lot more processing power if it hopes to achieve such a feat. More information on this is expected to be unveiled at E3(Electronic Entertainment Expo), an annual gaming and electronics show in Los Angeles between the 14-16 of June. It has also been stated that they might be moving towards an approach similar to that of the iPhone. Making an annual update to specs and graphics of the console gradually as well as the ability to play more advanced games. We will just have to wait and see what this tech giant has in store for one of it’s most widely known creations.
I chose this article because I frequent the online servers of the Xbox One. I play a lot and to see something such as the Oculus Rift join the Console would just be incredible. I found that the website Kotaku, which has released very reliable information before, has talked about these new consoles. It’s so fascinating to see how Microsoft is still innovating on a very advanced console. They have push the boundaries of console limits and now they will be pushing them even farther.

Bendable Smartphone

Bendable Smartphone

A small Chinese startup is about to unveil a smartphone that can bend all the way around your wrist. The device is made by Moxi Group. The screen uses graphene, which is the thinnest material in the world. But the phone only has black and white displays. The color version will come out in 2018. The black and white phones will sell for 5,000 yuan each ($760). To visit the article and find out more click here.

The Bendable Smartphone

The Bendable Smartphone

In 2018, we will have the new and improved edition of the bendable smartphone. This story says that it will be using the thinnest material in the world, (grapheine). Using this material allows it to bend as if it were a watch around you wrist. You may be thinking that this phone made by moxie will not be strong but, according to this article it is, strong, flexible, light and transparent. Unfortunately, when it comes out it will first be black and white. Luckily, moxi's company says that it will eventually have a color screen when the technology comes out. The price is expected to come out as $760 as black and white. Also, Samsung and LG  tried making a bendable phone one time, but it did not bend as far as the Moxi phone. So, as of 2016, Moxi is the only company that will be selling these successfully bendable smartphones in 2018.

I found it interesting that thinking about these phones in 2018, with color will blow apple phones, samsung, and LG phones off the market if they become successfully. I chose to read  this article because I think that these phones will  have lots of potential in later years, and I’ve never seen anything like it. It may seem odd now wearing a phone around our wrists, but it will be a common thing to wear. Of course apple, samsung, and LG will try to make these phones. It will be too late by the time theres comes out because everyone will already have the new Moxi phones.

Sony Wins the War

Microsoft,Sony the bitter console rivals. Playstation just won the war, Sony’s Playstation 4 sold 40 million Playstation’s which dominates Microsoft’s Xbox One that sold 21 million consoles. Playstation sells 1 million consoles every month. The reason I did this article because I love video games and this seems interesting to me. But the Xbox one put up a reasonable comparison by outselling Playstation for a bit. But Xbox is also making two new consoles but these are just rumors. Playstation 4 is also the FASTEST selling playstation in all of history comparing to the Playstation 3, 2, and 1. It is also very unlikely that Sony will lose it’s place in the polls. Keep up the good work Playstation!

New Search Engine Could Be Smarter Than Google

This article tells about how a new search engine, called Omnity, could be way smarter than Google. Instead of just searching for keywords and pulling up websites that include those words like Google does, Omnity puts the websites that best match your search and how the results relate to each other. For example, if you’re about to write a paper on a subject you know little about, you can see the websites most cited and most influential. Also, you can drag a document into the search bar and Omnity will analyze the “rare and more unique” words. In addition, most people today have a bad keyword system, but Omnity can help with that. It scans the whole document/website to make sure it was not mislabeled. Omnity is a wonderful search engine, but can it really take over Google? I guess we’ll just have to find out!

When I first saw this story, I thought the creators of Omnity were stuck up. I never thought any search engine could take over Google, let alone be smarter. But then I read the very captivating article, and Omnity blew my mind. It thinks like a human would! And you can do so much more with it than you can with Google. I am definitely going to be using this search engine!

App Allows Doctors to Conduct Surgery Anywhere

I just read a cool article about an app that can help conduct surgery. The app is called Proximie. With this app, doctors can be anywhere in the world and conduct surgery, as long as there are two smartphones or two tablets it is possible. The doctors can see the damage from a live video feed on a camera. Then they can draw lines where the incisions should be made. The surgeons could then use the lines as a guide to cut the incisions. I chose this article because it might help people learn about the new advancements of the medical industry. It’s also very interesting to see how doctors can conduct surgeries when they are on vacation in the Bahamas.

New Drone Carrying System

New Drone Carrying System
By:Allison N.

Imagine a world where items that are under 1.2 pounds can be severed to you, via a flying drone. Wait, you are in the world where they have flying drones. Also, It only costs $3 to get it delivered to you plus, It can come from the shop to a 6 mile range. You can easily just download a app on your I phone and you can order coffee and within minutes it will come right to your front door by you just pressing a few buttons. Even though scientist are still testing the drone they believe it will come out in little time and soon, hopefully, be world-wide. Also the NASA and the FFA are currently working on are traffic system so the drones won’t run into any airplanes and cause air traffic problems. Hopefully the drones will soon come out in 2017 and people can be delivered food or drinks by a flying drone.

The reason why I choose this story is because I find it really cool how one day you would go to a restaurant and get the food/drink but now there is an easier way. It’s so cool because you don’t have to move that much to get a cup of juice or something.I never really imagined a world where you can just get drinks or food delivered by a drone. This topic is is really interesting because it just shows how much the world, and technology has changed all over the years. But, because I do have a feeling that kids are going to take advantage of this but, it’s a really neat thought. In the end, I found this really interesting because it cost so little but, so cool at the same time.

A Bendable Smartphone!

A Bending Smartphone!
By: Peter Murray

A tiny company in China called, Moxi Group, has created something no other company has ever accomplished, a bendable smartphone! It can be wrapped around your wrist and still function properly despite the flexed screen. According to them, they used Graphene. It’s the thinnest, material in the world that is also, strong, light, flexible, and transparent! About 100,000 models of the phones are expected to be out by the end of 2016. Unfortunately, they will be black and white. But, color versions are expected in 2018. For now, the models will be $760. Apple’s cheapest price of the iPhone 6S is $806. So you can say that you’re getting a bargain. Fun fact, Moxi is actually pronounced mou-she. This is short for Graphene in Chinese. Huge companies such as Samsung and LG have been experimenting with flexible phones according to an Analyst named Nicole Peng. However, their prototypes aren’t even in the same ballpark as Moxi when it comes to flexibility.
I chose this story because all over the internet, I have seen videos, pictures, and blogs about people’s Apple iPhones bending in their pockets. The device is practically destroyed if that ever happens. At least in my opinion. So, I thought that a bendable phone could solve almost everyone’s main issue, bend. Also, Moxi said that the devices were made out of a strong material called Graphene. So not only would flex be solved, but strength would be fixed as well. I found this article interesting because never in a million years would I have thought that all the valuable components in a smartphone could be bent. I didn’t think it was physically possible. I mean, we’re talking touchscreens, wires, transistors, and many more. I was almost positive that if I asked anyone that hadn’t seen the article if they thought bendable phones were possible, they would say no. In conclusion, it just really shocked me that Humans were capable of this.

Verizon Workers on Strike

 Verizon Workers on Strike
“The legal fight between Verizon and the unions began on April 13 when nearly 40,000 landline and cable workers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states went on strike. “ This is very interesting since I have verizon and I see many people on strike in front of their company stores! My Parents have received  papers and envelopes staying join a different company, they don’t pay us enough money, etc. Verizon has reported many complaints about that they are illegally striking. They have blocked company cars, intimidating nonemployee to move companies, and engaging in vandalism.
“Verizon has said it has offered a 7.5% wage increase and will continue to match employee retirement savings contributions and increase pensions.” “ Verizon accused protesters of blocking entrances to Verizon facilities for over an hour, harassing replacement workers at job sites and vandalizing equipment” Verizon has state to the legal court. They have also said that they have used air horns by where the company workers sleep. But, Verizon has no evidence of these striking violations.

Solar storms could’ve helped create life on earth

NASA scientists think that solar storms 4 billion years ago may have helped create life on earth. They think it warmed the earth, and made the right conditions for life to form on the planet. This was found by a new study team called the Kepler Mission. They discovered sun-like stars that released enormous explosion in space called “ superflares” at about 10 times away. They noticed that these happen almost once a century. With this information, NASA made a timeline putting the stars in order by their age.

As I read this article, I thought this is very important. I thought it should be known more. I find it fascinating that theories change every day. I really enjoy hearing stories like these.

If dogs could talk this is what they would say!

Melody Jackson invented a device allowing dogs to speak. This device will help with search, rescue, bomb detection, and therapy dogs. The vest, FIDO, stands for facilitating interactions for dogs with occupations. The vest has been tested on Jacksons 8-year-old Border Collie, Sky. The vest has side sensors that the dog triggers with a bite or nudge with their nose. The owner trains the dog with toys and starts by training them by identifying if the object is a ball or frisbee. The dog can help detect explosives and saying which kind it is. A bomb-sniffing dog can only tell the owner that there's an explosive there, but they can't say if it's stable or unstable. The vest can also help find a missing person, it will tell the person that help is on the way. The vest also has a GPS so the owner can find the dog that's with the person in jeopardy and the dog doesn't have to leave the person's side. The vest can help a hearing-impaired person too. Jackson said one of her dogs picked up the technology in about 27 seconds.
I chose this story because first of all I love animals! This device will help protect people all around the world. This is a great break through to help finding bombs and explosives in an unsafe place. To have the chance to see a dog talk would be amazing, and now you can. This will help us understand a dog's abilities a lot more.

Dogs are Learning to Communicate Easier

I chose this story because I love dogs and I thought it would be interesting to learn more about how they can help people in need. It was very interesting to learn about how the dogs take emergencies and get help by themselves with a tech vest.

Overwatch

So I’m sure that most people reading this have heard of the new game Overwatch, right? There’s been plenty of hype about it and today I’m here to restate what’s already been said on another website instead of being original, playing the game, and giving my own thoughts on it. Hooray.
So basically this article says someone else’s opinion on Overwatch, and what they don’t want to say about it, like how they compare it to other games such as the wonderful Team Fortress 2. They say that the creators nailed the game, and that it is an instant classic. It also explain Overwatch’s concept. That’s all I have to say for the summary, go read it yourself: http://www.cnet.com/news/what-i-dont-want-to-say-about-overwatch/
And the other thing I had to do for this project was explain why I chose it. That’s simple: I like video games and I am very interested in Overwatch. At first it seemed like a boring team-shooter that was just the same as anything else, but then I started looking more into it and got a lot more interesting. This article, of course, attracted me to it because I am a video game nerd and will read anything about video games when I have the chance.

Another change in google's industry

Google is soon making some very interesting changes to make searching your private information easier to find. Soon, if you’re logged into your google account when and you search your name, your personal information will appear at the top of the search results. Also, the link to personal accounts will appear at the top right of the listings. Lastly, on Google’s mobile app you can simply just say "OK Google, show me my Google account."  Google is making this change because many users were searching themselves to see how much google knew about them.

I found this story interesting because google has made so many changes and have become an extremely complex search engine. This change makes a lot of sense knowing that a lot of people want to find their private information fast and simple. Google is making finding information, private or not, easy and convenient.

Why You Shouldn’t Panic That Cell Phones May Cause Cancers:

Recently, a government study has discovered that cell phones may be connected with cancer, but here’s why you shouldn’t sweat over it.

The US National Toxicology Program, or the NTP, experimented with male rats. They used these rats by using full body doses of radiation for about 9 hours each day. The rats that were used with radiation had some health effects such as, heart and brain cancers with tumors, than the other rats, that were not given this daily dose.

Why you should worry? Humans aren't rats, so the two will have different reactions. Even on every organism, they'll have completely different reactions. Also, the radiation levels the rats were exposed to were much higher than the radiation levels humans are exposed to by cell phones.

Overall, cell phones don’t have that much radiation to cause cancer, and even if they did, studies have shown that humans have took no effect to it. Plus, animals will react differently than humans.

Harnessing Spider Powers

Since Ancient Greece, cultures have treated wounds by rubbing them with spider webs, believing this prevented blood loss and infection.  Since then, the practice has been lost.  Until recently.  Professor Fritz Vollrath has started using the silk of spiders and silkworms for medical use.  Vollrath put this tradition to the test by creating spider silk dressings in a series of animal trials, and found they blended seamlessly within host tissue. "Spider silk is inherently biocompatible so the wound does not reject it," he says. The silk is also biodegradable, meaning the dressing is simply eaten away as the wound heals."  He uses goldenrod spiders kept on the roof of Oxford university.
However, in order to harness these ‘‘powers,” we have to understand how it works.  Volrath has discovered an array of proteins in the silk, which proved resilient to stress and deformation.  This, he concluded, was the reason that the silk is so tough.  In addition to that, he discovered that the spiders produce seven types of silk.  Dragline silk, which the spider uses to hang from, proved the toughest.
I chose this article because with so many advancements in the world, it’s amazing that possibly the most useful has been in front of us the the whole time.

Something New: Virtual Reality

Recently, there has been an uproar in the technology world. Virtual Reality. This new idea is spreading all over different countries. This article gives examples of different virtual reality simulators and how they benefit our world today.
What is Virtual Reality? It is an environment generated by a computer. This allows one to experience different realities. It can visually separate one from their current environment. Virtual Reality can bring one to the Franklin Institute or swim in the Great Barrier Reef. One can do all of this through a Virtual Reality device.
Many Tech-Giant companies have began to build and sell these devices. Google has come out with the Google Cardboard, which is the cheapest VR device on the market. All one has to do is download the app on his or her’s phone and attach it to the VR device. From this that person can experience a whole new world. Other companies like HTC, Oculus, Samsung, and Sony have also released VR devices.
How can Virtual Reality benefit our world today? There are many ways. In the artistry and design areas, one could use VR to make designs without picking up a single tool. In the educational areas, VR can model advanced concepts and can take students on virtual field trips.
In conclusion, VR is a new advance in the technology world. It will certainly be used in many ways to benefit our world today, such as education and art. Also it will expose people different parts of the world. And last of all. It is fun to use. Virtual Reality is a new and exciting experience for people in our world today.
I chose this article because I liked the idea of Virtual Reality. I also like the idea of comparing two or more technology devices. It was interesting because Virtual Reality is a new advance and I find the idea of getting separated from your current location to experience a whole new world very intriguing.

“Teaching Dogs to Talk is Easier than You Think!”

The article I chose for my current events was titled “Teaching Dogs to Talk is Easier Than You Think”. I found this article on CNN’s website. This article was written by Anne Woolsey.

Melody Jackson an associate professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology created an invention that has been said to give dogs a voice. The invention is a vest supplied with sensors that can send text notifications to a smartphone, or cues that can be heard. Teaming up with Thad Starner and research scientist Clint Zeagler, Melody Jackson created this vest for the project FIDO, or “ Facilitating Interactions for Dogs with Occupations”. FIDO is sponsored by DARPA, (Defense Advanced Research Project Protection Agency), and the National Science Foundation. Their test dog is Jackson’s border collie, Sky. She has helped them test out the vest, and helped troubleshoot by showing the team what is A-ok, and what isn’t. The dogs are trained with frisbees and balls to know how to detect a bomb, like trying to tell his/her handler what kind of explosive it is. But that’s not it. Jackson and her team have gone above and beyond and have developed a second vest, and are working on a third! The second vest is a medical alert vest. If the dog finds a trapped person when wearing the vest, he/she can trigger a sensor and let that person know that help is coming soon. The third vest that Jackson and her team are working on is a vest that will help the handler track his dog. If a dog finds it’s target and runs off, this vest activates a sensor and allows GPS coordinates to be sent to the handler. Jackson also thinks personal functions can be added to the vest such as the dog being able to turn around and pull a tab that calls 911, and with someone's GPS location can text that person's husband. The dog with the vest could also alert people that have speaking impairments or that are deaf to tell them what someone might have said, or when the doorbell rings. Jackson believes any dog that can be trained can wear these vests and make them work. One dog even figured it out in 27 seconds which proves, anything is possible!

I chose this article because I personally love dogs and loved the fact that Melody Jackson was making the world a better place. I found it interesting that all these different vests that regular trained dogs could just activate and help soldiers on the battlefield, big time! They can even help people with disabilities outside of the battle field which I found pretty amazing. Melody Jackson and her team are changing the world one step at a time!

Harnessing spider powers to heal human bodies

I find this article interesting because. A scientist named Professor Fritz studies spiders and is interested in spider webs. Also he makes medicine out of the spiders silk. He is going to use the medicine to help with any replacements in the body or use some of it for stitches.  This professor has worked with spiders for over 40 years! Also he is still working and trying to discover other stuff with spider webs or just spiders. I choosed this article because it was cool to learn about spiders and their webs. Also what spiders webs can do to help humans out.

Uber’s self-driving Ford Focus hybrids are cruising around the streets of Pittsburgh

10 to 15 years ago in the California badlands, and in 2013, the Uber Self Driving technology was being created. Now in 2016 it’s finally here being used in Pittsburg, PA. The next Ford Hybrid you see in Pittsburgh might be self driven or maybe you might be riding in it. On Wednesday May 18, 2016, Uber was testing their new technology in Pittsburgh to find it a good success. I found this story very interesting because it is cool to see the world evolve each day of the year with something new.

This is your brain in space

Nasa is planning a trip to mars in 2030. So far they have gathered everything they need to send people to mars, they have: housing, food, water and air they need for the whole mission. But there is one very important problem yet to be solved, the people. For this mission the astronauts need to be used to Isolation, leaving their families, crammed in a small space for long periods of time, and day and night times scrambled. Nasa has decided to make a simulation on a red mountain range where they spent multiple days and nights getting used to the situation and conditions.

I chose this story because it seems interesting that we have almost made it to mars. I found it interesting that they found a place to simulate mars. Also it is interesting because it really shows that we can survive on mars but in maybe 20 or more years we will have people living on Mars.
