Boston Dynamics is Known for their amazing robots and sick humor but, did they go too far by kicking their new dog robot “Spot”? That is what many of the people that saw the video that Boston Dynamics put on youtube to robot's ability to recover thought. “Find a different way than kicking the dang thing to get your point across folks, goodness.” Is what a angry commenter posted on the video. Personally I think that it is ok. I am not a cruel person, I actually really love my dog and all other dogs it's just that robots unfortunately don't have feelings, they may represent things like dogs but they don't have the feelings that dogs have. It’s like when an infant gets a new dog toy and puts the toy in its mouth or, throws it across the room you don't get mad at the child because, it’s not real it just resembles a dog. I chose this story to write because I feel very strongly that when they kicked the robot it was just for testing.

If it was a real dog, I would be really upset, but it's just a robot, so it doesn't count as animal abuse or anything. It's their own fault if they break their robot dog- I agree nice job!!

ReplyDeleteI agree Katiecorn, it isn't a real dog and it doesn't (sadly) have feelings. I agree that it is their own robot for experimenting and if they want to kick it let them, it isn't like they are hurting it.
