What is 5G?

Five years after 4G smartphones hit the market, 5G is being developed, but it is yet to be known what it will mean and what it will look like. Bill Smith, president of AT&T’s network operations, said that 5G  will likely be defined in 2018. The standards will determine the characteristics it must include and the wireless technologies that can be considered 5G. “5G will be faster, smarter, and less power-hungry than 4G.” 5G would be fast enough to stream 8K video in 3d or download a 3d movie in about 6 seconds, and be almost 40 times faster than 4G. Unfortunately,  some people believe “peak speeds are fun to dream about, but actual speeds not as fast as promised.” I thought this was interesting because 5G is already being developed only 5 years (8 years now) after 4G was released.
