The inventor of email died March 5, 2016 at the age of 74 years old. This man's name is Ray Tomlinson. He started using the @ symbol in an email. Ray tested email by having two computers in his office and sent a few words between the computers. Ray does not remember his first sent words. Today, more than a billion people around the world type that @ sign every day. Tomlinson says that back in 1971, he did have some idea of the impact his invention would have had in the future.
