Actually yes! The designers/creators of this cheetah experimented to see if they could create a robot that could jump hurdles and run fast! First they put their creation in a harness on a big treadmill. They put a 27 cm. obstacle (block) and it…… jumps!!! The way this works is the robot uses laser technology to see its environment and any obstacles. The laser tells it when and where to jump, turn, or run. Seeing if there is an obstacle to jump over, they change their position to bound and use leg thrusts to jump over. The robotic cheetah also can run really fast, and turn around objects, jump hurdles without a harness, without falling. This robotic cheetah is an amazing new discovery and creation. It jumps high, runs, turns, and does many cool things with or without something holding it up! This fantastic robotic creation was funded by the DARPA Maximum Mobility and Manipulation.

This picture is of the robotic cheetah jumping a hurdle/obstacle on the treadmill. There is a black harness on it and the black lines you see going up above it are what is holding it up if it falls (which it didn't).
That is so cool that it can jump like that
ReplyDeleteWow! This is so cool!
