Glasses to Help the Blind

A company called Second Sight has come out with a new way to help the blind (partially) see. These glasses are called Argus II, and 170 people in the U.S now own them. In order for them to work, and surgeon must attach an electrode array to the retina, which, when worn with the glasses picks up a signal. The brain then perceives these into pictures. For example, you would be able to see a window, doorway, etc. In one special case, a man was able to see letters. However, these glasses do not come cheap. The glasses are about $143,000, which is a reasonable price to pay for partial vision.
