Sweden's Unmanned Convenience Store

Robert Ilijason, an IT specialist, opened the first unmanned convenience store in Sweden. Customers can unlock the door with a swipe of a finger and scan their purchases. They get charged through a monthly invoice. There are six surveillance cameras in the store, and he will receive a text message when the door is open for more than eight seconds. He got the idea to create this store when he was home alone one night, and dropped the last jar of baby food on the floor. He had trouble finding a store in town that was open to buy more. He is surprised no one has had the idea to open a store like this. He is surprised that no one has thought about opening a store like this, and so am I. I think it’s a really cool, and I wish we had a store like this near us. One of Ilijason’s friends, Raymond Arvidsson, said he took less than a minute to get his shopping done. It’s very fast and easy, if you know how to use the technology. Tuve Nilsson, 75, is worried that elderly people might have problems with the technology, but he still finds it convenient. I think we should have a store like this near us. You could get what you need, when you need it, and it’s so easy. Most people have phones nowadays, and it would be so simple to be able to pull it out to unlocked the door, shop for what you need, and then scan your food with your phone.
