A Guide to Future Living by NASA

A Guide to Future Living by NASA

Some of us may be living in space in the future. The NASA Ames Research team, led by Gerard O’ Neill, a Princeton professor, are doing a research experiment of life in space. After some researching with lots of other experts, he came up with three ideas: the Bernal Sphere, the Toroidal Colony, and the Cylindrical Colony. They all had circular designs, using centrifugal force to create artificial gravity. O’ Neill thought that they would be able to begin construction by 1990, but the technological equipment was not advanced enough. The largest design, the Cylindrical Colony, has the ability to hold up to 1 million people, with the most modern home designs that are out. O’ Neill died in 1992, but people may get to live in one of his designs in the future.

  3. I think scientists sometimes have strange ideas about space. I feel it would take a lot of the worlds resources to build.
