If dogs could talk this is what they would say!
Melody Jackson invented a device allowing dogs to speak. This device will help with search, rescue, bomb detection, and therapy dogs. The vest, FIDO, stands for facilitating interactions for dogs with occupations. The vest has been tested on Jacksons 8-year-old Border Collie, Sky. The vest has side sensors that the dog triggers with a bite or nudge with their nose. The owner trains the dog with toys and starts by training them by identifying if the object is a ball or frisbee. The dog can help detect explosives and saying which kind it is. A bomb-sniffing dog can only tell the owner that there's an explosive there, but they can't say if it's stable or unstable. The vest can also help find a missing person, it will tell the person that help is on the way. The vest also has a GPS so the owner can find the dog that's with the person in jeopardy and the dog doesn't have to leave the person's side. The vest can help a hearing-impaired person too. Jackson said one of her dogs picked up the technology in about 27 seconds.
I chose this story because first of all I love animals! This device will help protect people all around the world. This is a great break through to help finding bombs and explosives in an unsafe place. To have the chance to see a dog talk would be amazing, and now you can. This will help us understand a dog's abilities a lot more.
