Netflix

Netflix’s ratings are different for other people, for example ‘Ghost Adventures’ can have a 4 star rating on my account and a 3 star rating on somebody else’s account. That’s because Netflix thinks the viewer will enjoy the show or movie. ‘Prison Break’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ may have 5 stars and that’s because people with similar interests rated it 5 stars. I chose this story because I like Netflix.

The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport

The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport changed the meaning of corvette, it is a mix between a standard Corvette Stingray and the Corvette Z06. Which shares its cooling system, electronic limited-slip differential, Magnetic Ride Control suspension, dry-sump lubrication, dual-mode exhaust and so on. The 2017 Grand  Sport will be powered by the stingray’s 460-horsepower LT1 V-8 engine, will be available in both Coupe and Convertible the summer.
I chose the story about the Corvette because I like the body and design of it, and the fact that it is a sports car. Even though the Corvettes are pricy, I still like them. I found this story interesting because it was a car that stood out. It looked like something worth reading about. The 2017 Grand Sport would be a smooth car to ride and it could reach 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds.  It looks like one of the really exotic cars, but really is just the Corvette stingray at its best.

McDonalds VR Headset

In Sweden the famous Fast-food chain McDonald's released a Happy Meal Box the folds into a Virtual Reality Headset, It’s called Happy Goggles. Just insert your phone and you set! Also they plan to launch an app for skiing where you use the goggles to ski down a slope filled with McDonald's items.

I found it interesting because it’s about Mcdonalds and I love talking bad and making jokes about it and this just adds to my pleasure.

Google’s New Robot is Redefining the Future of Safety

Atlas, a robot created by Google, has been updated to be more human than ever before. Now, Atlas can open doors, get up after a fall, put objects on shelves, and even balance while walking in snow. Atlas is smaller now too, 5ft 9in and 180 lbs, and is entirely mobile, meaning he doesn’t need to be attached to a computer. Atlas uses sensors and lasers to keep balanced, navigate rough terrain, and avoid obstacles or debris. The main purpose of Atlas is to perform disaster recovery in places unsafe for humans because he can run extremely fast, climb well, and even jump as high as 30ft.

This story is so interesting because it’s redefining the future possibilities of something very important- safety. Atlas could save countless lives because it could enter unsafe places to help get people out without risking the lives of other human beings. Atlas’s speed, agility, and skills can be put to use not only in disaster recovery, but also possibly in the armed forces or military. So, Atlas could save many without risking the lives of other human beings, and possibly even defend our country, making it a valuable investment in future safety and defense programs.

Atlas

Atlas is a “Google” robot designed to go places where it is unsafe for humans like special recovery missions. It can balance when walking through snow, open doors, stack boxes on shelves, and push itself up after being knocked down. It is a lot more mobile than the first version. The first version was 7 inches taller, and 120 pounds heavier. The new one is 180 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches tall. The first version also had to be tethered to a computer but the new one is completely wireless.

It was originally introduced in 2013 during a defense advanced research meeting.  The new version has several tech teams that helped build a smarter and better brain for atlas. He uses sensors in his hydraulic joints to keep him balanced and lasers in his head to help him to avoid objects. Atlas is also very good at adjusting to his surroundings.

AT&T will start testing 5G this year!

AT&T will be field testing 5G by the end of the year. However 5G standards still have not been  set. AT&T also says 5G will be 10 to 100x faster than 4G was. There is also a lot of things they still don’t know like cost and battery life. This is an interesting story because it has announcements for faster off wifi internet, but it also shows how anxious wireless companies are to get ahead of each other despite the fact 5G standards have been set. Not only that but, AT&T says it still has more bandwidth. 5G probably won’t be available until 2020. For more information on the story click this link.
